Whining in Hockey

Why is it okay for someone like Chris Chelios to whine and complain about incurring a legitimate penalty (for example the repeated crosschecking across the back of Patrick Kane) while it is not okay for Sidney Crosby to whine about a penalty either incurred BY him or ON him?

How does one look GOOD for "the code" and hockey while the other looks bad and goes against The Code?

Riddle me that, Batman.
